HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT REGISTRATION FOR SUMMER SCHOOL 2019

DATES/TIMES:             

High School Algebra I   - June 3 to July 5, Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 12:00 pm (except July 4)
High School Geometry - June 3 to July 5, Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 12:00 pm (except July 4)
High School World History- June 3 to July 5, Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 12:00 pm (except July 4)
High School Beginning Band- June 3 to July 5, Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 12:30 pm (except July 4)
Band Camp- June 3-21, Monday-Friday, 1:30pm-4:30pm (no credit given)
Jazz Band Camp- June 24-July 12, Monday-Friday, 1:30pm-5pm (no credit given)
         

PROGRAM:       

The five-week Algebra I Review/Remediation classes will assist students in achieving competency by re-teaching basic Algebra I concepts and providing practice in the application of those concepts. This class is the equivalent of a regular high school year course, will count toward high school credits, and will affect the high school GPA.

The Geometry course is the equivalent of the regular high school year course and is offered for high school credit and will count toward the high school GPA.  

The World History course is the equivalent of the regular high school year course and is offered for high school credit and will count toward the high school GPA.

The Beginning Band course is the equivalent of the regular high school year course and is offered for high school credit and will count toward the high school GPA.

Band Camp and Jazz Band Camp are both 3-weeks long and are for students who have completed beginning band or higher. There will not be any high school credit given for these camps.
 

ELIGIBILITY:

Algebra I class is offered for students who need to repeat Algebra I.  Students with a previous grade of D or F will have their lower grade replaced by the higher.  Students who are repeating the class for review, who earned a C- or higher previously, will not have their grade changed. Students may not take Algebra I for the first time in summer school.

Geometry class is offered for students who need to repeat the class or who want to advance a year. Students repeating the class to replace a D or F will have their lower grade replaced by the higher. Students wanting to advance a year need to have completed Algebra I with an A or B and be recommended by their current math teacher. Students completing Geometry in summer school will advance either to Honors Algebra II or Standard Algebra II next school year.    

World History class is offered for students who need to repeat the class or who want to advance a year. Students repeating the class to replace a D or F will have their lower grade replaced by the higher.

High School Beginning Band is for middle school and high school students. No experience is necessary.

Band Camp are for students who have completed beginning band or higher.

Jazz Band Camp are for students who have completed beginning band or higher and have been given approval from Mr. Rasner.
 

REGISTRATION:

Registration closes May 21, 2019.
Acceptance is contingent upon academic need and made on a first-come, first-served basis.
A maximum of 3 absences is allowable for credit to be received.
If a parent drops the class on or before May 21 a full refund except for the $50 registration fee will be given.
If a parent drops the class after May 21 the full $200 is non-refundable. If a parent drops the class on or after June 3, the full $475 is non-refundable. If the school cancels the class, full refunds will be given.
*A minimum of 10 must be signed up for each class to be offered.

 
COST:                

$475 for the five-week courses
Band camp cost is $225 (3 weeks camp)
Jazz Band Camp cost is $240 (3 weeks)
$200 due upon registration (includes non-refundable $50 registration fee)
$275 due by the first day of class

 
MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENT REGISTRATION FOR SUMMER SCHOOL 2019

Review Middle School Mathematics
June 3-21, Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

                      
PROGRAM:      

The three-week review course will assist students in achieving competency by offering intensive basic skills development.  For information regarding the Algebra I and Geometry offerings, see the Summer School Registration form for High School.

 
ELIGIBILITY:

All Seventh-Grade Math students
Seventh Grade Math students with C- or lower are highly recommended for Review of MS Math.
Eighth Grade Pre-Algebra students with a C- or lower are recommended for Review of MS Math.
Eighth Grade Algebra I students with a D or F may repeat High School Algebra I in summer school and the higher grade will replace the lower.
Eighth Grade Algebra I students with an A or B may take the High School Geometry summer class for credit.


REGISTRATION:           

Registration is online at wcss.org and closes on May 21, 2019, three weeks before the class begins.
Acceptance is contingent upon academic need and made on a first-come, first-served basis.
A minimum of 10 must be signed up in order for the class to be offered, and we will limit enrollment to 25 per class.
