Summer School


HIGH SCHOOL SUMMER SCHOOL INFORMATION 2017:

DATES/TIMES:    
High School Algebra I   - July 5 to August 4, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
High School Geometry - July 5 to August 4, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
High School Art I - July 5 to August 4, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.    
                               
PROGRAM:                
The six-week Algebra I  Review/Remediation classes will assist students in achieving competency by re-teaching basic Algebra I concepts and providing practice in the application of those concepts. This class is the equivalent of a regular high school year course, will count toward high school credits, and will affect the high school GPA. 

The Geometry course is the equivalent of the regular high school year course and is offered for high school credit and will count toward the high school GPA.  

The Art I class is equivalent to the regular high school year course offered for high school credit and will affect the high school GPA. It will satisfy the Visual Performing Arts requirement for graduation.

 
ELIGIBILITY      
Algebra I class is offered for students who need to repeat Algebra I.  Students with a previous grade of  D or F will have their lower grade replaced by the higher.  Students who are repeating the class for review, who earned a C- or higher previously, will not have their grade changed. Students may not take Algebra I for the first time in summer school.

Geometry class is offered for students who need to repeat the class or who want to advance a year. Students repeating the class to replace a D or F will have their lower grade replaced by the higher. Students wanting to advance a year need to have completed Algebra I with an A or B and be recommended by their current math teacher. Students completing Geometry in summer school will advance either to Honors Algebra II or Standard Algebra II next school year.    

Art I classes are offered for those concurrently enrolled at WCS in grades 9 through 12 and who have not taken the class before.
               

 

REGISTRATION:   
Registration closes June 15, 2017.
Acceptance is contingent upon academic need and made on a first-come, first-served basis.
A maximum of 3 absences is allowable for credit to be received.
If a parent drops the class on or before June 15th a full refund except for the $50 registration fee will be given.
If a parent drops the class after June 15th the full $200 is non-refundable. If a parent drops the class on or after
July 5, the full $400 is non-refundable. If the school cancels the class, full refunds will be given.
*A minimum of 10 must be signed up for each class to be offered.
 
COST                 
$400 for the five-week courses
$200 due upon registration (includes non-refundable $50 registration fee)
$200 due on the first day of class
 
 

MIDDLE SCHOOL SUMMER SCHOOL INFORMATION:

 
DATES/TIMES:        
Review Middle School Mathematics- July 17 to August 4, Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

PROGRAM:                
The three-week MS Math review course will assist students in achieving competency by offering intensive basic skills development.

ELIGIBILITY:             
All Incoming Seventh Grade Math Students
Seventh Grade Math students with a C- or lower are highly recommended for Review of Middle School Math.
Eighth Grade Pre-Algebra students with a C- or lower are recommended for Review of Middle School Math. 
Eighth Grade Algebra I students with a D or F may repeat  High School Algebra I  in summer school and the higher grade will replace the lower.
Eighth Grade Algebra I students with an A or B may take the High School Geometry summer class for credit.

REGISTRATION:   
Registration for the MS Math Review closes June 26, three weeks before the class begins.

A minimum of 10 must be signed up in order for the class to be offered.
A maximum of 3 absences is recommended.       
If a parent drops the class on or before July 19, a full refund, except for the $25 registration fee, will be given.
If a parent drops the class after July 19, the full $100 is non-refundable.
If a parent drops the class on or after July 26, the full $200 is non-refundable.
If the school cancels the class, full refunds will be given.
 
COST:                   
$200 for three-week MS Math review class
$100 due upon registration (includes non-refundable $25 registration fee)
$100 due on the first day of class
 

WCS SUMMER BAND CAMP  2017

July 10, 2017  through August 3, 2017
5 days the 1st and 3rd weeks (M- F) and 4 days in weeks 2 and 4 (M- Th)
 
9 AM until Noon for beginning students (We help the student choose an instrument and teach them to play from the very beginning)
1PM  -  4PM for Advanced students (This is for students who can already play their instrument:  Acceptance into this band camp is by audition or for those who have at least one year of experience)
 
Cost $300 -- Register on line
Not a class -- no course credit -- just learning and improving
